## Registration limits

| Limit | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Global commands per application | 100 |
| Options per command | 25 |
| Choices per option | 25 |
| Command name length | 32 characters |
| Command description length | 100 characters |

## Propagation

Global commands are cached by Discord and can take **up to an hour** to appear. Guild-scoped
commands register immediately, which is why bots often register to a test guild during
development.

A command that never appears at all is usually not a propagation issue: it means the bot was
invited without the `applications.commands` scope. Re-inviting with that scope fixes it, and
no amount of waiting will.

## The three-second rule

Every interaction must be acknowledged within **three seconds** or Discord reports "This
interaction failed". A bot that needs longer must defer, which extends the window to fifteen
minutes.
