Levelling

Also called XP, ranking, leveling

Awarding members experience points for activity and granting roles at thresholds. The most common engagement system on Discord, and one several major bots place behind a paywall.

A levelling system has four moving parts: what earns XP (messages, voice minutes, or both), the cooldown that stops spam farming it, the curve from XP to level, and the role rewards attached to levels.

Exclusions matter as much as the curve — most servers want XP disabled in bot-command channels and for muted or deafened members in voice.

Vetox includes levelling, XP, role rewards and voice XP on the free Starter tier. Several competing bots charge for levelling or cap the number of free role rewards.
