Logging
Also called audit logging, log events
A bot’s own record of what happened in a server — message edits and deletions, joins and leaves, role and channel changes, moderation actions — kept beyond Discord’s 45-day audit-log window.
Logging is the feature people install a bot for only after they needed it and did not have it. Because the platform audit log forgets after 45 days and never stored message content at all, a bot’s log is the only durable record of most incidents.
The two questions worth asking of any logging implementation: how many distinct event types it covers, and whether events can be routed to different channels — a server that logs everything to one channel has a log nobody reads.
